The Battle of Stamford Bridge was entertaining. Both Tottenham and Chelsea played well and created great chances. Though Spurs did not score, they always played the same brand of attractive football. Chelsea's Cole Palmer dominated, His dribbling was amazing as always, his chance creation was on point, and his set-piece action improved. He nearly had a worldie free kick in the top right corner, but luckily Nico Jackson cleaned it up.
What does this mean for Chelsea? It looks like Pochettino will keep his job. Chelsea has had a great stretch of form in recent weeks. They look more fluid and they seem to have more spirit. Cole Palmer can be credited with saving his gaffer's role, though.
What does this mean for Tottenham? The top four race is over. Even if it isn't already mathematically impossible, there is no way Villa won't get to fourth. This means Tottenham has to secure the Europa League and make important signings over the summer. Today's game versus Chelsea highlighted the importance of a midfield revolution for the North London club. They also need to buy some new wingers. Brennan Johnson is good, but not good enough YET. Son has also solidified the LW position, but a better backup than Bryan Gil wouldn't hurt. A new striker is important too.
This match highlighted important changes that need to be made over the summer if these clubs have high European aspirations for the coming years.
