Who Will Win The Premier League?

Tyler Stearns |

Arsenal came so close last season to finally dethroning Manchester City. City has won six titles in the last seven years. Liverpool has come close a few times, specifically in the 2021/2022 season where they fell to second only after City beat Aston Villa on day 38.

Manchester United, the best Premier League team, has been poor since 2013 when Sir Alex Ferguson left. They haven't contended for any league titles since his departure. Chelsea have been solid in the last eight years, but have taken a significant hit after ownership was passed over from Roman Abramovich to Todd Boehly. Tottenham made one push in 2016 (when Leicester City won the title) but hasn't been a major factor in any title charges.

City was close to losing last year. They looked poor in a few "Big 6" games throughout the season, drawing against Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, and Tottenham (they beat United twice). They relied on day 38 to save them again in their victory over West Ham United. Arsenal was very close to winning the title due to their strong 2024 record. But their losses to Fulham and mid-table teams led to their ultimate demise.

The year prior, in the 2022-2023 season, they were close to winning too. They had one hand on the title toward the end of the year, more than seven points ahead of City. But they bottled it, losing the lead after drawing Southampton, losing a few important matches, and losing to City four to one. After the season they signed Declan Rice who proved to be one of the top midfielders in Europe last season. They also signed Kai Havertz, who, after a slow start, scored some important goals down the stretch. Even though they lost the title to City, they massively improved.

This is the year for the Gunners. Their defense is incredible. After signing Calafiori (who will likely start at left back), and already having Saliba, Gabriel, and Ben White, they will be an unbreakable wall. Their midfield is also strong and will be reinforced this summer. Their attack is amazing too, led by England international Bukayo Saka. They will win the league this year, it just all depends on maintaining player health and winning the "gimme" games.
